Networking My Network......

 

My Firm was busy recruiting young fresh talents yesterday with a excellent HR presentation... a office tour with Moi as tour guide... and of cos.. alcohol alcohol alcohol.... at Fluid Bar! My group was a group of students from China doing their degrees over here... and a Masters program student.. she was talking Masters in Accountancy... previously she was a writer at mediacorp.. wat a bizzare switch of career.. but i guess it's for the better....

These fresh faces all beaming with energy and enthusiam... Pretty much like me when i first graduate.. yet i take on a different perspective now... much more learned and more steady...

Networking.. exchange of contacts... making conversation with HR personnel, managers and partners... it all seems so daunting but i guess it came naturely when everyone loosen up and warmed up... I was quite happy to see my partner there.. she is like my idol.. very chill, very approachable.. and yes I wanna be like that too!!

But I was too tired standing all day.. i ended up comfortably on the sofa.. like couch potatoes... it's a mini-gathering for us old timers.. not that old lah... but just catching up without trying too hard to impress... I guess we hav pass that now... haha...

So Networking... it takes effort.. thinking of all the intelligent answers on your feet.. but is it really worth it... I guess in a way.. since I've made a few friends and I'm going to give their names to HR as my recommendation!!

I found it fun but yet I also fight the struggle to get out of my comfort zone when my good friends are there... I mean.. it's after work and we just wanted to get a drink and just bitch about our day's toil....

I hope to see these familiar faces back next year... some of them I really think they've got so much potential... and I hope we recruit more of such pple... it'll make my job much easier as well! :p
